Mark 12.29-31

Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

Minister Search

June 13, 2017

Greetings from the Central Church of Christ in Savannah, Georgia!
We are in search of a humble minister-servant to aid in spiritually feeding our flock and leading us in outreach to our community. We are a congregation of about 100 members who are a friendly, compassionate family, anxious and interested in growing as we spread the love of Jesus to others. We feel a full time minister will greatly influence that process by both training and encouraging our present members and by leading with his own example in reaching out to those in need.

Our congregation is presently served by two elders and one deacon. The minister who comes to work with us will work under the direction of these elders as well as work in conjunction with the elders, deacons, and other members to offer sermons and class instruction that best spiritually feeds the flock at large.

Though the membership leans toward those older in age, we are a vibrant congregation that seeks to stay active in its offering and outreach to others. Contact with those who visit with us is important as we often draw visitors being a popular tourist destination. Recent and/or ongoing outreach activities of the congregation include a back-pack program where members pack foodstuff to feed school children in need across weekends during the school year, an adult backpack program to aid homeless, a food pantry to help feed the hungry,  a yearly VBS, and disaster relief response following the storms of our last hurricane. The membership is well-grounded in scholarship of the Bible and will look for depth and stimulating lessons from that perspective.

Savannah is a racially diverse city of about 150,000, included in a surrounding county of about 300,000, located in the southeastern corner of Georgia, near the Atlantic Ocean. Our congregation is a well-established congregation and is looking forward to finding a new minister interested in making a home with us.
